All Icon computer clock terminals are remotely upgradeable.
They use an innovative “flash” technology which can rewrite the internal firmware.

What this means to you:
As the years go on, you normally have to throw away equipment - computers, time clocks, hard drives, hardware, etc.  Icon can electronically 'rewire' the terminal for new technology.

For example: If a new daylight savings protocol (like the old one that worked better) is enacted, your machine could be reprogrammed to handle it, you would not need a new chip, or a new machine.
If a completely new operating system is released, the machine could be flashed, and not need to be replaced.

Other manufacturer's require you to buy new equipment every few years.
Not the Icon TotalPass series. The software runs on all systems.

As of February 23, 2021, Icon is complying with a new law from Illinois. There are links at the bottom of this page that go into detail.

On February 23, 2021, your TotalPass^® Time Clock will have new software available for installation. After updating the time clock software, new and existing workers will be asked to agree to the collection of their personal information when clocking in on your TotalPass Time Clock. IconTime^® is providing you with a poster to post next to your time clock to provide workers with more detail. Once a worker has acknowledged their consent, they’ll be able to continue to use their finger scan on the time clock. If an employee decides to opt out of the collection, disclosure, and use of their personal information through the TotalPass Time Clock, we will delete their biometric template on file. Please contact IconTime for alternative clock-in options.

If an employee should refuse to opt-in, you have three options. 

• One is to find another employee., but you might get sued.
• Another is to assign them a PIN number - which can be shared with others.
• Another option is to us RFID Badges, and put up a badge rack at the clock.  Friends can swipe friends (and enemies) in and out.

Best Alternative is to assign these employees RFID KEYFOBS.  Which hang on their key rings, making it fairly inconvenient to share with "buddies."  We sell the keyfobs, see list of accessories.
